January 2026, the first monthly roundup of the new year!
This month we have welcomed Tyler to the team, who is our part time workshop assistant. Often found at the welding bench, but his skillset means he is more than capable on other tasks too.
Tyler is a very keen engineer, with a lifelong background in miniature railways. Either found volunteering at local 5″ and 7¼” gauge railways or running a portable railway.

Tyler’s first day with us saw the swift completion of 74 rolling roads, which have just about seen us through to the end of the month.
He is already proving to be a committed member of the CMD team, asking if there is anything he can take back to his workshop to complete between his days with us.
Restock
We are gradually increasing our workshop stock value too, meaning all items should be dispatched within 2 working days of ordering. If you get your order in early on the day, chances are it’ll be dispatched within a couple of hours!
All products in the shop will inform you of their estimated lead times based on stock and processing.
All PNP products are now in stock too, if you’re in need for braking equipment, do head on over and add them to your basket.

Servicing and repairs
This month has seen two locos in for repair. With another ready and waiting for an engine change before returning to its railway. We are able to help with most locos and rolling stock, whether it’s just a hand in the right direction or full overhaul. Get in contact with us if you need some help.

SCAMP #100
The shiniest Scamp you are ever likely to see! Built back in 2020 at the CMD workshop, this special Scamp is made from stainless steel. We have only ever used it as a display loco, both in the workshop and for event stand attendance.
In December last year ‘Centurion’ changed hands, and is now owned by Bob Brocklehurst.
After some rebuilding and new parts (that had gone for a wander!) Scamp 100 was ready to tackle its first public outing. Visiting Pugneys Light Railway for its first running and High Leigh Miniature Railway a few days later.
Although we miss seeing this Scamp in our workshop, it does look stunning out on the rails in the sunshine where it belongs.
