Penrhyn Buffer

Penrhyn Buffer. Designed by Colin Edmondson.

Colin’s aim was to produce a simple welded buffer which would look the part on a large narrow gauge loco, but would be compatible with the commonly used link and pin couplings.
The chain and hook have been beefed up since this prototype was built. These are intended to only be decorative, they have proved to be quite useful on some lines.
The name ‘Penrhyn style’ was suggested by the first customer and seems to have stuck!
Strongly made from 4mm and 5mm mild steel.
